Van Halen pushes tour through summer
Nearly two months into their U.S. trek, Van Halen has tacked more than a dozen additional stateside stops onto their extensive run behind "A Different Kind of Truth."
Since last check, 18 shows have been added to the end of the schedule, beginning with a July 7 performance in Uncasville, CT, and pushing through an Aug. 12 concert in Cincinnati, OH. The spring and summer itinerary, which now encompasses 44 major markets, continues tomorrow (4/19) in Atlanta.
Tickets for the latest round of gigs go on sale beginning Friday (4/20).
For the July and August performances, Ky-mani Marley will provide opening support.
Van Halen's lineup will consist of original frontman David Lee Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen, along with bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, who replaced original bassist Michael Anthony prior to the band's previous tour.
"A Different Kind of Truth," the group's first new studio set since Roth's 2006 return, hit retailers in February. The group's 12th full-length album, which is the first to feature Wolfgang as bassist, peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and at the top of the magazine's Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts.
