Dispatch readies first new studio set in 12 years, more tour dates
New England jam band Dispatch will take off on an extensive U.S. trek later this summer in support of the long-awaited studio set "Circles Around the Sun," which surfaces in August.
The trio, comprised of multi-instrumentalists Chad Stokes, Brad Corrigan and Pete Francis, will first complete a handful of festival appearances, beginning May 19 in Gulf Shores, AL, at the Hangout Music Festival, followed by gigs at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo June 9 and San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival Aug. 12.
The official "Circles Around the Sun" tour kicks off Sept. 20 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and continues for another 12 major market stops, including a two-night stand Sept. 28-29 in Broomfield, CO. The current itinerary runs through an Oct. 12 performance in Atlanta, though more dates will be added in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
In an effort to reduce ticket scalping, Dispatch is asking fans to register for presales at their website now through April 25. Those who register will receive a code April 26 which allows them to purchase tickets beginning May 1. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the band's Amplifying Education initiative, which improves schools across North America and Europe.
Dispatch will unveil "Circles Around the Sun," its fifth album and first release in 12 years, Aug. 21 via their own Bomber Records. Produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol), the forthcoming effort follows 2000's "Who Are We Living For?"
Those who attend a show on the "Circles Around the Sun" tour will be able to download free live audio from the show they attended by using the bar code number on the physical ticket. More information about the downloads will be released at the band's website in the coming weeks.
