Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Kalifa and Warren G made guest appearances during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's headlining set Sunday (4/15) at Coachella, but Tupac Shakur -- who was shot dead 15 years ago -- made all the headlines.

A shirtless 2Pac was resurrected onstage via an incredibly realistic hologram that appeared to perform "Hail Mary," then "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" alongside Snoop. And despite the fact that the Southern California festival didn't exist a the time of his death, the hologram even shouted "What up, Coachella?"

Video of performance is embedded below.

According to MTV News, the hologram was created by AV Concepts, a San Diego company.

"We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre's vision to bring this back to life," company president Nick Smith told MTV News. "It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life."

Smith wasn't allowed to discuss how the hologram was synched to Snoop's vocals, or if the vocals were all done by 2Pac. But, he said, the company does have the ability to construct performances from existing footage.

"You can take their likenesses and voice and ... take people that haven't done concerts before or perform music they haven't sung and digitally recreate it," he said.

The hologram took nearly four months to create in a studio, following "several months" of planning, according to MTV.
