Phish adds a new round of summer shows
Phish has finalized its touring plans through the summer, and the itinerary features several stages that are new to the long-established jam band.
The just announced dates -- which run from Aug. 15-Sept. 2 and follow a previously announced round of June and July appearances -- include stops at several venues the band hasn't appeared at before, including Southern California's Long Beach Arena, San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Kansas City Mo's Starlight Theatre, St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena and Oklahoma City's Zoo Amphitheatre.
Also on the books is an Aug. 24 gig at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Birmingham, marking the band's first appearance in Alabama since 1999. Details are in the itinerary at right.
As was the case last year, Phish will end this year's summer tour with a run of Labor Day weekend shows at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.
The band's in-house pre-sale for the newly announced shows is underway now via MusicToday. Tickets go on sale to the general public via traditional channels beginning April 27.
According to a press release, Phish won't announce any additional shows for the summer or fall of 2012.
Included with the ticket price for each show will be a free MP3 download of a fully mixed soundboard recording for that show, which can be redeemed at LivePhish.com.
Though there's no new Phish album currently in the pipeline, the band will reissue its first full-length studio album, "Junta," as a limited edition, deluxe 3-LP vinyl set on April 21, in conjunction with Record Store Day.
