Alejandro Escovedo readies for "Big Station" run
Texas rocker Alejandro Escovedo will take to the road later this week for a lengthy U.S. trek surrounding the June release of his 11th studio set, "Big Station."
The Austin-based musician takes to the stage tonight (4/10) for his usual hometown Tuesday night residency at the iconic Continental Club before setting out for a Thursday night (4/12) performance in Dallas. So far, the spring and summer journey ventures through 27 American cities through a July 17 festival appearance in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, followed by an 18-date European leg.
Escovedo is set to release "Big Station," his 11th studio album, June 5 via Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group. The 12-track set, which was produced by Chuck Visconti, includes tracks largely co-written by Chuck Prophet, according to a press release. The impending collection also holds Escovedo's first-ever Spanish recording, "Sabor a Mi," which was written and composed by the late Alvaro Carrillo.
Last month, Escovedo performed numerous sets during Austin's South by Southwest Music Conference, including a Wednesday evening gig at Lucy's South by South Austin Fried Chicken Revival, which SoundSpike co-sponsored. The San Antonio native also opened up for Bruce Springsteen's SXSW debut at ACL Live at Moody Theater.
