Kanye West under fire on two fronts for new "Theraflu" single

Kanye West, a man who can generate controversy simply by picking up his smartphone, has walked himself into another hot corner, one he probably didn't even see coming this time.

The rapper/mogul is catching flak in two different directions at once after the release of his latest single, "Theraflu," a collaboration with DJ Khaled that purportedly includes lyrics about new flame Kim Kardashian. The song contains the lyrics "Way too cold, I promise you'll need some Theraflu," and the makers of the cold and flu remedy took exception to his use of their trademark.

"We in no way endorse or approve of the references or use of the image and likeness of Theraflu in this manner," a company rep told gossip site TMZ.

At the same time, he managed to annoy People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals with another lyric. "Someone tell PETA my mink is dragging on the floor," he boasts on the tune, which drew the ire of the animal-rights group.

"What's draggin' on the floor is Kanye's reputation as a man with no empathy for animals or human beings," a spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal. "He's a great musician but doesn't seem to have the fashion sense to design anything more than caveman costumes."

According to MTV, the track was originally intended for Khaled alone, but Kanye more or less claimed it for his own after hearing the Miami DJ's beats. Which didn't seem to bother Khaled, who promised another collaboration with West on his upcoming "Kiss the Ring" LP. "When we get together, we just make some amazing music," he told MTV News.

Kanye, meanwhile, can console himself with his new relationship. Longtime friends with Kardashian, another controversy-seeking missile like West, the pair have been spotted on several public outings recently, with friends confirming that the two stars are dating.
