Marina and the Diamonds bring Lonely Hearts Club to North America
Indie popster Marina and the Diamonds, a.k.a. Marina Diamandis, will play two roles this summer: opening act for music megastars Coldplay and headlining her own "Lonely Hearts Club" tour behind her forthcoming "Electra Heart."
The North American tour gets underway July 10 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles before heading north to intimate venues in San Francisco, Portland, OR, Seattle and Canada. Diamandis will play two more dates in Denver and Chicago before switching hats and becoming the opening act for Coldplay in Toronto on July 23. Her supporting role lasts until Aug. 11 when she will switch gears again to play three more dates as a headliner.
"Electra Heart," releases July 17. It is the follow-up to 2009's "Family Jewels," which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top New Artist Albums chart. The new single from the album, "Primadonna," is already available for purchase on iTunes.
Diamandis is a Welsh singer/songwriter and talented pianist. She won the title of "Best UK & Ireland Act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2010.
