Madness sets West Coast shows between Coachella gigs
Veteran British pop/ska outfit Madness has confirmed five southwestern U.S. dates this April alongside their Coachella shows.
The skanking seven-piece will use the down week between Coachella appearances for a quick southwestern road trip featuring two nights in Las Vegas, followed by one-nighters in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. These dates will mark the first time the mod-men have toured North America in over five years.
Formed in 1976, Madness arose out of England as part of the 2 Tone/Second Wave ska scene along with contemporaries like the Specials, bands that combined elements of ska and reggae along with punk and New Wave.
Best known in the U.S. for the infectious hit "Our House," Madness charted over a dozen top-10 tracks on the UK Singles Chart in the early 1980s, including "One Step Beyond," "Baggy Trousers," "It Must Be Love" and "House of Fun."
Madness broke up in 1986, but played a pair of successful reunion concerts in 1992 before 75,000 enthusiastic fans, which led to a comeback that has kept the band busy until today. Madness is currently working on its 10th studio album, due to be released later this year.
