X announces spring headline dates, reunites with Pearl Jam
Legendary Los Angeles punk rockers X will perform a handful of shows along the West Coast in May before embarking on a summer tour of Europe alongside Pearl Jam.
Now in their third decade of performing, X will kick off their brief U.S. stint May 4 in Solana Beach, CA. Highlights of the run include two dates with Los Lobos and Mariachi El Bronx at the Greek Theatre in L.A. and the Blacklake Festival in San Louis Obispo. From there, X will move up the coast to play two nights in the Bay Area and a night in Portland, OR, before wrapping up the show May 12 in Seattle.
After a short break, X will cross the pond June 20 to reunite with Pearl Jam. This will mark the second time X has filled the role of opening support for the band -- the first time was during the group's South American tour last year. Plans for the European leg include arena shows and festival appearances, including the U.K.'s popular Isle of Wight Festival. See below for a complete list of cities and dates.
According to X's website, concertgoers can expect to hear all the favorites from over the years, plus deeper cuts.
When asked about the band's longevity in a recent SoundSpike interview, X vocalist Exene Cervenka replied, "Staying alive. We stayed alive longest. We're the ones with the staying power. It makes me very, very sad. The thing is it's the luck of the draw. We'd all love to see the Ramones play tomorrow night. Unfortunately, we can't. Or Joe Strummer. Or all the people that were great. We miss them all very much. Our longevity is in tune with that.
