"American Idol" reveals Top 13 finalists
"American Idol" named its Top 13 finalists during a live results show on Thursday (3/1), with viewers picking 10 and the judges choosing three.
The seven male finalists in the Top 13 are Phillip Phillips, a 21-year-old from Leesburg, GA; Heejun Han, a 22-year-old from Flushing, NY; Joshua Ledet, a 19-year-old from Westlake, LA; Colton Dixon, a 20-year-old from Murfreesboro, TN; Jermaine Jones, a 25-year-old from Pine Hill, NJ; Deandre Brackensick, a 17-year-old from San Jose, CA; and Jeremy Rosado, a 19-year-old from Valrico, FL.
The six female finalists who also landed spots in the Top 13 are Jessica Sanchez, a 16-year-old from San Diego; Hollie Cavanagh, an 18-year-old from McKinney, TX; Skylar Laine, an 18-year-old from Brandon, MS; Shannon Magrane, a 16-year-old from Tampa, FL; Elise Testone, a 28-year-old from Charleston, SC; and Erika Van Pelt, a 26-year-old from South Kingstown, RI.
On the men's side, Phillips, Han, Ledet, Dixon and Jones advanced after they received the most home viewer votes following the Tuesday night performance show. Meanwhile, for the women, Sanchez, Cavanagh, Laine, Magrane and Testone advanced after they received the most viewer votes following Wednesday's performance show.
After America's picks were revealed, the judges -- Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler -- gave wild card passes to six contestants, with the plan of only choosing three. Rosado, Brackensick, Van Pelt, Reed Grimm, Jen Hirsh, Brielle Von Hugel were chosen to "sing for their lives."
Meanwhile, the :Idol" dream ended for remaining semifinalists Adam Brock, Chase Likens, Baylie Brown, Hallie Day, Chelsea Sorrell, Aaron Marcellus, Creighton Fraker, Haley Johnsen and Eben Franckewitz.
The judges decided to bring on board Rosado and Brackensick -- both of whom broke down at the news -- and Van Pelt.
Seacrest revealed that more than 33 million votes were cast after the two performance nights. Next week, the top male finalists will tackle Stevie Wonder songs while the girls will honor Whitney Houston.
