String Cheese Incident unveils summer dates
The String Cheese Incident returned to the touring fold in 2011 after spending four years on the sidelines, and the Colorado jam band is keeping the tour bus rolling in 2012.
The group will next take the stage May 19 at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, AL. The bulk of the band's roadwork, however, is set for late June and July, kicking off with three days at Rothbury, MI's Electric Forest June 29-July 1.
According to a statement posted on the band's website, a service charge won't be charged for tickets ordered through the band's site, though shipping fees will be tacked onto the bill.
"We've got a big batch of tix to sell but the supply is not limitless.... get 'em while you can," the statement said.
The band filed suit against Ticketmaster in the summer of 2003 seeking the right to sell a large number of tickets directly to fans, with the stated intention of keeping service fees low.
"Some very pointed discussions took place, the issue was resolved and the band continued selling tickets as they had always done," the band's statement said. "Fast forward to today and pay attention.... this is the exciting part.... The String Cheese Incident is proud to announce that we have figured out a way to finally achieve the ultimate goal with this whole ticketing exercise.... The Summer Tour of 2012 will be SERVICE CHARGE FREE."
