Neil Diamond tour adds an anniversary gig at L.A.'s Greek Theatre
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of his landmark live album "Hot August Night," which was recorded during a 1971 run at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Neil Diamond has booked a pair of August gigs at the same venue.
The newly confirmed shows are set for Aug. 16 and 18, and tickets go on sale to the public on March 5, according to a press release.
Diamond played seven sold-out nights at the Greek in the summer of 1971, and the following August he sold out 10 shows at the venue. The 1972 run spawned the double-live album "Hot August Night," which spent 29 weeks at No. 1 on the album chart. (Diamond also recorded a second live album, 1977's "Love at the Greek," at the same venue.)
As previously announced, Diamond kicks off an extensive round of touring June 1 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and is scheduled to visit more than 25 cities by summer's end.
Diamond was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
