Jeremy Lin's music picks lean Christian
As instant NBA sensation Jeremy Lin continues to tear up opposing defenses and Linsanity burns out of control everywhere (okay, mostly Greater New York), hoop fans are no doubt starting to ask themselves: who is this man and just what sort of rap does he listen to?
And the answer to that question is: Christian rap. The New York Knicks point guard cited Texas rapper Lecrae in an interview with Fuse that the network presciently lined up Feb. 3, before Lin had begun his current hot streak as an overnight impact player.
"I really enjoy his lyrics," Lin says of Lecrae in the interview, which can be seen below. "So if you're a big lyrics guy, I think that'll be a good fit for you."
But he doesn't draw the line just at Christian hip-hop; Lin also professed love for contemporary Christian rockers Hillsong. "I listen to something that mellows me out," he said of the Australian collective. "I listen to them just to remind myself why I'm playing the game and to remind myself I'm playing to glorify God."
The Harvard-educated Lin went undrafted following his graduation from college. After a ho-hum stint with the Golden State Warriors last season, he has taken the sports world by storm with his run of big-ticket performances for the Knicks of late, averaging more than 20 points and seven assists over the team's last six games, all wins, after starting off the season by playing only 55 minutes of the team's first 23 games.
