Merle Haggard "feeling good," ready to resume tour
Country great Merle Haggard, who was hospitalized a couple of times in January, reportedly to undergo treatment for pneumonia, plans to be back on the road by the end of the month.
"I'm feeling good and ready to get back on the bus," Haggard said in a press release. "Thanks to all for their powerful prayers that led to my speedy recovery. I'm rehearsing with the band and looking forward to playin' and singin' again."
According to his publicist, the postponed January dates are being rescheduled for April, and Haggard's previously booked tour with his longtime band The Strangers begins as originally scheduled Feb. 28 in Tucson, AZ.
Haggard, 74, survived a bout with lung cancer in 2008, when he had a lemon-sized tumor removed. His been on the road regularly since his recovery.
