Wilco meets Popeye in animated video - watch it here

The new video for the track "Dawned On Me," which appears on Wilco's latest album, "The Whole Love," is the unlikely vessel of the first hand-drawn Popeye cartoon in more than 30 years.

In the clip embedded below, directed by Darren Romaelli, Jeff Tweedy and his Wilco bandmates jam as members of the "Popeye the Sailor Man" crew, including Wimpy, Bluto, Sweet-Pea and Olive Oyl, battle it out. Oh, and Tweedy joins Popeye and Bluto in pursuit of Olive.

This isn't Wilco's only recent meeting with Popeye. Last weekend's Sunday "Popeye" comic strip gave some prominent placement to the band: it features a ship dubbed the S.S. Wilco, Wilco brand spinach and a cartoon rendering of the group.
