Diana Krall, Animal Collective, Herbie Hancock part of Hollywood Bowl 2012 schedule
Diana Krall, Animal Collective and Herbie Hancock are among the many acts slated to perform during the Hollywood Bowl's 2012 season, along with performances of Mel Brooks' "The Producers" and several classical concerts.
The 91st summer series, which gets underway with an opening concert June 22, includes performances by several mainstream artists, such as Ben Harper (7/1), Norah Jones (8/10), Hot Chip and Passion Pit (9/9).
Classical programs will take over the stage on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 10 weeks and will feature special guests like cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Yuja Wang and violinist Itzhak Perlman.
Herbie Hancock, serving for the third year as Creative Chair of Jazz, curated a number of shows, including a Miles Davis tribute (6/27), a Neville Brothers performance (8/1) and a blues night (9/5) featuring B.B. King and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The iconic jazz man will also perform as part of the Celebrating Peace concert Aug. 29.
A three-night Fourth of July extravaganza helmed by Barry Manilow is on the books for July 2-4, while The Brian Setzer Orchestra will take on the three-night fireworks finale slated for Sept. 14-16.
Subscriptions for classical, sunset concerts, weekend spectaculars, jazz and KCRW's World Festival are available now at the venue's website. Single tickets will go on sale beginning May 5.
