Green Day steps in for Jane's Addiction after family emergency scuttles show

Green Day is stepping in for Jane's Addiction at Live 105's "Not So Silent Night" show in Oakland tonight (12/9) as last-moment replacements. A family medical emergency related to Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins has forced the band out of the headliner slot at the show.
Jane's Addiction also pulled out of a Las Vegas show on Wednesday at The Joint. They were to have headlined one night of the two-night X107.5 Holiday Havoc 2011. The show went on as a free, unticketed event with the remaining lineup, Naked And Famous and The Joy Formidable.
For that show, the local promoters made the following statement via the venue's website: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jane's Addiction had to cancel their performance at Holiday Havoc on Dec 7 because of a severe illness with one of their family members."
Late on Friday, San Francisco-area station Live 105 posted a similar message: "Live 105 presents Not So Silent Night Jane's Addiction out for tonight due to a medical emergency. Green Day taking their place!"
Around that time, a fan asked Jane's guitarist Dave Navarro about the state of things via Twitter, saying "@DaveNavarro Is the show tonight in Oakland, CA canceled?." Navarro responded, "I am afraid so. Our prayers are with Stephen and his family."
Jane's was also scheduled to perform at the KROQ Acoustic Xmas show on Sunday. No word yet on whether they're still on that bill.
