Meat Puppets add more "Lollipop" dates
The rock trio Meat Puppets has added another round of U.S. club shows in support of its spring release, "Lollipop."
The new leg gets underway Sept. 14 in Baton Rouge, LA, and works its way around the South and East. The club and theater trek ventures through 31 major markets before concluding Nov. 13 in Des Moines, IA.
The band continues to support its 13th full-length effort, "Lollipop," which surfaced in April via Megaforce Records. The album, which was recorded at Spoon's HiFi Studio in Austin, TX, follows the outfit's 2009 release, "Sewn Together."
The Meat Puppets will re-release their third set, 1985's "Up On The Sun," on vinyl Sept. 13, according to a press release. The original 12-track album, written entirely by frontman Curt Kirkwood, will be expanded to include five bonus songs, all of which were recorded in the mid-'80s.
The group recently contributed to a Nirvana tribute album celebrating the 20th anniversary of the grunge rockers' seminal album, "Nevermind." The Meat Puppets re-interpreted the Nirvana's hit single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
