Eddie Vedder covers John Lennon's "Imagine" in Portugal
Eddie Vedder treated fans at a recent European concert to a cover of John Lennon's iconic "Imagine."
During the July 18 solo appearance at the Super Bock Super Rock Festival in Portugal, the Pearl Jam frontman discussed his anti-war beliefs and followed it up with a slimmed down version of the classic tune.
"This next song I always thought it was probably the most powerful song ever written," Vedder stated according to Billboard. "I think it is the most powerful song ever written. Which is why I have never played it. It seems like maybe there is a reason to play it. If you?d like join me or use your voices or hold a light there might be some people out there that need to know they are not alone."

Vedder will meet up with the rest of the Pearl Jam crew for nearly a dozen U.S. shows this fall, including headlining spots at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
The band most recently dropped its 10th studio effort, "Lightning Bolt," on their own Monkeywrench Records label last October. The 12-track set peaked at the top of The Billboard 200 and at No. 2 on the U.K. Albums chart.
