Dublin residents file formal complaints to stop Garth Brooks shows
Local opposition to Garth Brooks' upcoming concerts in Dublin took a formal turn this week as residents lodged official complaints in a bid to keep the shows from happening.
Neighborhood groups organizing against the five-show stand at Croke Park stadium cite an agreement struck between the neighborhood councils and the operators of the facility, stating that special events at the venue, including concerts, cannot exceed three per year. Residents note that three One Direction concerts that happened in recent weeks exhausted the special events provision for the year.
The Dublin City Council must now rule on an application filed by the concert's promoters to allow the shows to happen, bringing an estimated 400,000 fans to the area.
