Third victim dies from SXSW crash injuries
The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office said Monday that a third victim of the crash that stunned SXSW festival-goers in the first moments of last Thursday has died.
Sandy Le, an Austin resident, had been hospitalized with head injuries since the accident.
According to police, she had been standing in a crowd of people when a car that police say was driven by 21-year-old aspiring rapper Rashad Owens plowed into that crowd of pedestrians as he tried to elude police who suspected him of driving drunk.
Later blood tests affirmed police suspicions, and Owens has been charged with a single count of capital murder in the incident, which in the state of Texas could result in the death penalty if he's found guilty.
The accident killed two others immediately--Jamie West, 27, who also lived in Austin and Steven Craenmehr, 35, who had travelled from the Netherlands to attend the music festival. West had been riding a moped with her husband, who remained hospitalized on Monday. Craenmehr had been riding a bike.
