Morrissey to return to the U.S. behind new record deal
For the first time since last year's cancelled tour, Morrissey will return to the U.S. this spring and perform in theaters and arenas from coast to coast.
The English singer/songwriter and former Smiths frontman will kick off the stateside journey with a May 7 performance in San Jose, CA. The 25-city tour moves from the West Coast eastward through the end of April. Two performances—May 10 in Los Angeles and June 21 in Brooklyn, NY—will feature special guests Tom Jones and Cliff Richard, respectively.
The newly-announced spring outing follows news that Morrissey has firmed up a two-album deal with the Capitol/Harvest label. The first new full-length set is expected to surface in the second half of 2014, according to a press release.
Morrissey most recently unveiled "Years of Refusal," his ninth solo album, in 2009. That effort landed at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 and at no. 3 on the U.K. Albums chart.
