Prince drops plan to sue fans for linking to bootlegs

Prince managed to get a lot of people talking about him this week with an announced plan to sue 22 people, many of whom professed to be his fans, for linking to sites where live bootleg recordings of some of his live performances reside.

Prince managed to get a lot of people talking about him this week with an announced plan to sue 22 people, many of whom professed to be his fans, for linking to sites where live bootleg recordings of some of his live performances reside.

A swift and pretty consistent backlash ensued, which may have contributed to a TMZ-sourced update that the reclusive singer has now dropped the planned lawsuits.

It would not have been the first time Prince has taken legal action against supposed allies. In 2007, his representatives shut down several sites, some purporting to be fan sites, for utilizing live photos that his legal team claimed were unauthorized.
