Neil Young, Diana Krall collaborate for "Honor the Treaties" Canadian trek
The two musicians will begin the quick "Honor the Treaties" run with a Jan. 12 show in Toronto, and then venture to Winnipeg, Manitoba (1/16); Regina, Saskatchewan (1/17); and Calgary, Alberta (1/19).
Young will tackle four evening performances at New York City's Carnegie Hall in early January (1/6-1/7, 1/9-1/10) before heading north of the border, while Krall will head out on her own West Coast headlining outing after the Canadian shows with Young.
The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund, also known as the ACFN, supports "legal challenges against oil companies and government that are obstructing their traditional lands and rights," according to Krall's website. People in the Athabasca region sustain themselves by hunting, trapping fishing and gathering on their lands, which has been protected by Treaty 8 since 1899. More information about ACFN and the legal fund is available at the nation's website.
