Janelle Monae postponed a trio of "Electric Lady" shows for vocal rest
Janelle Monae had to postpone three West Coast performances of "The Electric Lady Tour" last week after receiving doctor's orders to rest her vocal chords.
The R&B songstress postponed concerts in Anaheim, CA (11/5); San Diego, CA (11/6); and Phoenix, AZ (11/7), after receiving "strict doctor's orders for mandatory rest."
According to her website, Monae said the postponement "truly leaves me heartsick and shaken because I live for this: connecting with you and giving you a one of a kind concert experience. But alas, apparently even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge."
The in-progress trek continued Saturday (11/9) in Dallas and continues for another nine major-market performances. The current road work wraps up Nov. 26 in Atlanta.
Monae released her sophomore studio album, "The Electric Lady," in September. The collection, which follows her 2010 debut, "The ArchAndroid," peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 3 on the magazine's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
