For the third time in his career, George Strait took the top honor of Entertainer of the Year at Wednesday's (11/6) Country Music Association Awards, just a couple months before beginning the last leg of his farewell tour.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood co-hosted the 47th annual CMA Awards, marking the duo's sixth consecutive year in that position. The Nashville event was riddled with references to current events, including a mashup of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" with the reality show sensation Duck Dynasty," as well as a jab at not-so-subtle Obamacare's website issues.

There was no sweep of trophies this year, with Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift all receiving two awards each.

Country power couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton continued their respective reigns as Female and Male Vocalists of the Year, with Shelton taking home a second trophy for Album of the Year.

Florida Georgia Line, the quick-rising duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, were awarded Single of the Year for "Cruise," along with Vocal Duo. Newbie singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves, who rivaled Swift with six nominations, walked away a lone trophy for New Artist of the Year.

Swift herself earned the Association's Pinnacle Award, which has only previously been given to Garth Brooks in 2005. A range of celebrities saluted the crossover songstress, including Ellen DeGeneres, Mick Jagger, Justin Timberlake and Julia Roberts.

Along with the handout of trophies, the CMA Awards featured an array of collaborative performances. Strait and Alan Jackson paid tribute to the late George Jones with a rendition of "She Stopped Loving Him Today," while Swift performed her own single "Red" alongside Alison Krauss and Vince Gill performed. Performances by Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Kacey Musgraves, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw and Eric Church, among others.
