Billy Joel to spend New Year's Eve playing Brooklyn arena
Iconic crooner Billy Joel follow up a handful of Europe gigs and ring in 2014 with a sure to be sold-out show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and composer will tackle a trio of European performances, beginning tonight (11/1) in Dublin, Ireland, and finishing up a week later (11/8) in Birmingham, England.
The New Year's Eve (12/31) concert will feature an opening performance by Ben Folds Five, followed by a full set by Joel. Tickets for that show go on sale Nov. 9.
Just a few weeks before the New Year's Eve show, Joel will receive Kennedy Center Honors, alongside Carlos Santana, actress Shirley MacLaine and opera star Martina Arroyo.
Joel most recently released "Fantasies & Delusions," his first collection of classical compositions. The effort, which peaked at No. 83 on The Billboard 200, followed his chart-topping 12th album, 1993's "River of Dreams."
Joel is one of the highest grossing touring artists of the world and has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide. The musician has received six Grammys, as well as the Grammy Legend Award, along with inductions into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
