Dixie Chicks set out on Canadian "Long Time Gone" run
The Dixie Chicks will preface the holiday season with a Canadian leg of their "Long Time Gone" trek.
The female trio will kick off the quick run with an Oct. 31 performance in Calgary, Alberta, followed by another half dozen gigs across four provinces. The fall road trip wraps with a Nov. 10 show in London, Ontario.
After the Canadian outing, the country-rock group will auction off a guitar signed by each of the musicians and played by Emily Robison on the latest run. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives, a San Antonio foundation committed to caring for children in crisis. The auction for the signed LG-2 guitar ends Nov. 12 at the Charity Buzz website.
In related news, the Courtyard Hounds -- the side project of Chicks' Martie Maguire and Emily Robison -- are looking for help with the video for "The World Smiles." Fans can submit a photo of something that makes them smile at the Hounds' website. Selected photos will be featured in the video.
