Nirvana, KISS, Hall & Oates among 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees
Chic, The Replacements, The Meters, Linda Ronstadt and N.W.A. were also nominated, as well as the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, the Zombies, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Cat Stevens, Link Wray and Yes.
In order to be nominated, acts must have released their first single or album at least 25 years before the year of nomination.
Approximately 600 voters, made up of music industry veterans, as well as critics, historians and previous inductees, will submit secret ballots. A "fan's ballot" will also be added to the mix. Fans can vote now through Dec. 10 via the Hall of Fame's website, and the top five fans choices will make up that one "fan's ballot."
The 29th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place in April in New York and will be broadcast on HBO, according to CNN.
