Smashing Pumpkins hit the theater circuit in October

Iconic alternative-rockers the Smashing Pumpkins are returning to the road this fall for a 12-city jaunt that will serve as a warm-up for a big year of touring in 2012.
The fall trek launches Oct. 5 at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and wraps up Oct. 22 at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, with stops along the way at Terminal 5 in New York City and in the band's hometown of Chicago at a venue yet to be determined. Support for all shows will be provided by two bands, Fancy Space People and Light FM.
The Pumpkins' set-list promises a mix of their classic tunes, deep cuts, and a few songs from the upcoming album "Oceania," due out in early 2012. Singer/guitarist Billy Corgan is the band's only remaining original member; the current lineup is rounded out by guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino.
The 13-song "Oceania," which will be the Corgan-led quartet's first full-length release since 2007's "Zeitgeist," is described as "an album within an album," a part of their in-progress 44-song opus "Teagarden By Kaleidyscope." Also this fall, EMI Music will honor the legacy of the Smashing Pumpkins by reissuing and remastering all the band's albums from 1991-2000, with bonus material included.
