Tricky cancels several U.S. dates, reschedules tour kick-off for late October
Continued visa delays have forced British DJ/producer Tricky to call off several planned U.S. dates behind "False Idols.
With his reworked schedule initially slated to kick off tonight (10/1) in Philadelphia, Tricky will now start the tour with an Oct. 19 performance at San Francisco's Treasure Island Music Festival. Nine shows have been canceled, and the Oct. 2 New York City show has been rescheduled for Oct. 26.
The latest visa delays are due to some "juvenile offences for joyriding and forgery of the crown," according to a press release. U.S. authorities, who require full disclosure prior to granting visas, are awaiting further information from U.K. authorities about these issues.
"The most upsetting thing about this, whatever happens it seems like it's me letting people down," Tricky said in a press release. "Other people have always dealt with visas for me and it turns out that they have not advised me properly. Now I have been advised that this was going to be straightforward and easily done in time for this tour and now this has happened."
Tricky unveiled his 10th studio effort, "False Idols," in late May, marking the first release on his own False Idols label. The 15-track album follows his 2010 release, "Mixed Race."
