Tom Waits last minute addition to next month's Bridge School Benefit
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer joins the roster for the three-day fundraiser, which takes place Oct. 27-29 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. The Killers, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, fun. Heart and Jenny Lewis are also on the bill, as is benefit organizer Neil Young's iconic outfit Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Waits, who hasn't toured since 2008, will perform a full acoustic set with his band, which includes guitarist David Hidalgo, bassist Les Claypool and drummer Casey Waits.
"I had every good intention to stay home and work on my JD Salinger Halloween mask," Waits posted at his Facebook page. "But when Neil told me yesterday he was serving burnt cow's eyes on a flat tire and it's all gluten free, I invited myself!"
The concerts benefit the Bridge School in Hillsborough, CA, which serves severely speech-impaired children in the Bay Area. Young's wife, Pegi, and Jim Forderer -- both parents of children with severe speech and physical impairments -- co-founded the school in 1986 along with Dr. Marilyn Buzolich.
