Jeff Tweedy will take a break from his band Wilco to tackle a solo run of the West Coast near year's end.

The singer, songwriter and record producer will begin the two-week journey Dec. 3 in Kansas City, MO, and visit theaters in eight cities throughout the western U.S. The outing wraps up with four evenings -- Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 18-19 -- at Los Angeles' Largo at the Coronet.

Tickets for most dates go on sale to the general public Friday (9/13).

Wilco most recently released "The Whole Love," the group's eighth studio album, in 2011 via their own label, dBpm. The effort received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.

Tweedy has since collaborated with Mavis Staples for the second time. The R&B songstress unveiled "One True Vine" in June. Tweedy penned three songs and played most of the instruments on the records. His son, Spencer, handled drums.
