Toad the Wet Sprocket to take new album on the U.S. tour trail
Toad the Wet Sprocket will spend the fall touring behind their first new album in 16 years, "New Constellation," which the band funded via a successful Kickstarter campaign.
The alt-rock outfit will take to the stage beginning Sept. 18 in Portland, ME, and hit three other East Coast cities in quick succession. After a little more than a month, the California natives will reconvene for the a more extensive run beginning Nov. 1 Boston and venturing through 15 cities before wrapping up Nov. 23 in Minneapolis.
The four-piece rock band will now unveil "New Constellation" Oct. 15 on their own label, Abe's Records.
"At some point we would play shows and remember not why we'd broken up, but why we got together in the first place," singer/songwriter Glen Phillips said in a press release. "That made it possible and exciting to move forward again."
Toad the Wet Sprocket kicked off a 60-day Kickstarter campaign in June in an effort to raise $50,000 to cover the cost of the album. By the fundraiser's Aug. 3 end, more than $264,000 had been pledged, allowing them to expand their release team, according to a press release.
The band's last studio effort, "Coil," surfaced in 1997, one year before the group disbanded.
