Jimmy Buffett ready to drop "Songs From St. Somewhere"
Jimmy Buffett will unveil a new studio effort, dubbed "Songs From St. Somewhere," in the midst of his in-progress run with his Coral Reefer Band.
The music magnate continues the sporadic roadwork with an Aug. 17 show in Washington, D.C., followed by two shows (8/20, 8/22) in Wantagh, NY, and a Aug. 24 performance in East Troy, WI. A couple Paris concerts are on the books in September, while a handful of shows are scattered across the western U.S. this fall.
Buffett will release "Song From St. Somewhere" Aug. 20 via his own Mailboat Records. The 15-track collection contains 11 songs written or co-written by the frontman and features special guests Mark Knopfler, Emilio Estefan and Latin singer Fanny Lu.
The impending album, which follows 2009's "Buffet Hotel," was recorded this spring in several locations, including Key West, Nashville, Muscle Shoals, Austin, Miami, St. Barts and London, according to a press release.
"Buffet Hotel," the magnate's 28th studio set, surfaced in late 2009 via his own Mailboat Records. The 12-track album peaked at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 and at the top of the magazine's Top Independent Albums chart.
In September, the Broadway adaptation of "Big Fish" will debut in New York City. Buffett is producing the musical, while five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman will direct. More information is available at the production's website.
