John Mayer, who will kick off his first tour in three years early next month, has unleashed the first single, "Paper Doll," from his forthcoming studio set.

The award-winning singer/songwriter will take part in Philadelphia's 4th of July Jam before officially kicking off his "Born and Raised" world tour July 6 in Milwaukee, WI. The summer trek moves through 43 major markets before wrapping up Oct. 5 in Los Angeles.

For the domestic leg, Mayer will raise money for the Northern California Institute for Research and Education, which studies the effects of post traumatic stress on military veterans. One dollar from each ticket sold throughout the U.S. will benefit the cause.

A quick, three-date South American run is part of Mayer's September schedule, and a handful of European shows are slated for late October.

Mayer is currently in the studio finishing up his sixth studio album, "Paradise Valley," according to a press release. The musician is working with longtime collaborator and producer Don Was on the project, which follows his spring 2012 release, "Born and Raised."
