Kim Deal leaves Pixies again

Kim Deal, the Pixies' bassist and backing vocalist, has left the band after an on-and-off relationship with the alt-rock outfit.

Kim Deal, the Pixies' bassist and backing vocalist, has left the band after an on-and-off relationship with the alt-rock outfit.

The band posted the news at the its Facebook page Friday (6/14).

"We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies," the note read. "We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best."

No word yet on who will join the three remaining Pixie members -- Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering.

Deal still fronts her other project, The Breeders. That alt-rock group has a summer of U.K., South American and Australian dates.
