Mellencamp's "The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County" musical tours U.S.
"The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County" musical, the brainchild of writer Stephen King and iconic musicians John Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett, will make its way around the Midwest and Southeast this fall.
The Southern gothic musical has 20 dates lined up for the theater run, beginning Oct. 10 in Bloomington, IN, and pushing through a Nov. 6 performance in Grand Rapids, MI.
Tickets are available now for most shows; on-sales for the Oct. 11 Louisville show begin Friday (5/31).
The performances will feature an ensemble cast of 15 actors, along with a four-piece live band. An album of the musical will hit retailers June 4 via Hear Music and Concord Music Group.
The theatrical collaboration began 13 years ago when Mellencamp told King a dark story of murder occurring years ago at a cabin on his Indiana land. Over the years, the pair worked it into this musical and drafted legendary T Bone Burnett to handle musical direction.
