Warren Haynes plots dates for Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration
Grammy-winning singer/guitarist Warren Haynes and crew will join forces with symphonies in major markets as they take on the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration.
The orchestral outing honors the late Jerry Garcia, founder and frontman of iconic jam band Grateful Dead, and is being curated by the Garcia family, according to a press release.
The eight-city trek gets underway June 18 in Pittsburgh, PA, and continues along the East Coast through that month's end. A one-off stop in Morrison, CO, comes July 30, before the outing wraps up with two shows in San Francisco (8/1-2) and a final concert in Los Angeles (8/4).
"We've chosen a very diverse list of songs from the extensive Jerry Garcia related catalog and in the true spirit of the original music will be leaving room for improvisation and approaching the symphonic arrangements from a non-traditional direction," Haynes said in a press release. "We are also going to vary the setlists to some extent for fans that want to attend multiple shows."
Haynes will be joined by drummer Jeff Sipe and bassist Lincoln Schleifer, as well as vocal support from Alecia Chakour and Jasmine Muhammad.
