MTV hands Katy Perry nine VMA nominatons

Katy Perry leads the list of nominees for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards with nine nods, including Video of the Year.
Next on the list is Adele with seven nominations, including Video of the Year for "Rolling in the Deep." Kanye West is also nominated for seven VMAs, including one in the Best Collaboration category for "E.T.," a video that also features Perry.
Lady Gaga, the big winner at 2010's VMAs with wins in eight categories, is nominated in just three this year: Best Female Video for "Born This Way," and Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for "Judas."
The ceremony for the 28th annual edition of the MTV VMAs takes place Aug. 28 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
