R. Kelly hopsitalized after undergoing throat surgery

R. Kelly is hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, a day after undergoing surgery to drain an abscess in one of his tonsils, according to a statement issued Wednesday (7/20) by the R&B singer's camp.
"Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain," said the statement. "Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure."
Kelly, who will "be laid up for an indefinite amount of time," had just completed the U.S. leg of his "Love Letter" tour. The statement said it isn't known when he will be able to resume performing.
