Steve Martin, Steep Canyon Rangers make patriotic plans

After completing their in-progress U.S. journey, comedian/actor/musician Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers will celebrate the Fourth of July with a special PBS performance and a new single, "Me and Paul Revere."
The bluegrass outfit will perform at the fifth annual "A Capitol Fourth," a free Independence Day (7/4) concert held on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC. The event, which will be broadcast live on PBS and NPR, will wrap up with fireworks over the Washington Monument.
Inspired by the patriotic performance and David Hackett Fischers' book, "Paul Revere's Ride," Martin penned the "Me and Paul Revere," from the perspective of the historic figure's horse.
The single will be released via Rounder Records June 28 and will be available for digital download the same day on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic and Rhapsody, according to a press release.
In March, Martin and his band dropped "Rare Bird Alert," a 13-track set that features special guests Paul McCartney and The Dixie Chicks. The effort peaked at No. 43 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the magazine's Top Bluegrass Albums chart.
