Animal Collective plans more U.S. shows for July

Just off of their appearance at Southern California's Coachella festival, indie-rock darlings Animal Collective are working up a new round of U.S. shows.
The half-dozen dates on the new U.S. itinerary include the band's first show at the Washington, DC-area's Merriweather Post Pavilion, the amphitheater that gave Animal Collective's 2009 album its name. The outing is scheduled to wrap July 15 at Chicago's Pitchfork Music Festival.
The summer U.S. run will follow the band's previously announced European tour, which includes curating its own edition of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in England.
Though Animal Collective members Panda Bear, Deakin, Geologist and Avey Tare have concentrated more on their individual endeavors than Animal Collective over the past year, the band appears to be working toward following up the critically acclaimed "Merriweather Post Pavilion." The group road-tested several new songs during a recently concluded run of California shows.
