Mogwai postpones several U.S. shows due to visa delays
Mogwai has been forced to postpone the first five shows of their North American tour due to delays processing their performer visas.
The Scottish band, primarily associated with long, instrumental pieces that evolve simple patterns into layered crescendos, was scheduled to launch the latest leg of their tour on Tuesday (4/19) in Washington, DC.
That show, at the 9:30 Club, along with shows in Philadelphia, New York and Boston have now been pushed back to October, according to a statement from the band.
The rescheduled dates will follow the band's scheduled appearance at the All Tomorrow's Parties-curated "I'll Be Your Mirror" event in early October.
The North American tour will now kick off in Montreal on April 25th, followed by a Toronto date.
The new arrangement will delay the band's entry into the U.S. until April 27th, when they're scheduled to perform in Pittsburgh.
Visa issues recently scuttled scheduled South By Southwest performances by several artists including The Raveonettes, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Those Dancing Days and Young Legionnaire.
