Steve Martin, Steep Canyon Rangers get behind "Rare Bird"

Comedian/actor/musician Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers will hit the tour trail in the coming days in support of Martin's second bluegrass album, "Rare Bird Alert."
Martin and friends kick off the trek with five New York shows, beginning Monday (3/14), followed by theater performances throughout the eastern half of the nation. The 23-date run, which includes a two-night stand in Las Vegas, currently ends with a July 1 show in Chautauqua, NY. More shows will be added in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
On Tuesday (3/15), Martin will release "Rare Bird Alert," the follow-up to his 2009 bluegrass debut, "The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo." Martin took home his first Grammy Award last year for the effort, which won the Best Bluegrass Album category.
Martin and SCR are also scheduled to perform on the talk show circuit next week in support of the album drop. The musicians will take the stage March 16 on the "Late Show with David Letterman," March 17 on "The View" and March 21 on "The Colbert Report."
