Smashing Pumpkins to close Sunset Strip Music Fest
The music festival, slated for Aug. 26-28, will be spread throughout area clubs, including Whisky A Go-Go, Viper Room, Key Club, Cat Club and House of Blues. For the second consecutive year, a portion of Sunset Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday to allow for outdoor stages, food vendors and a beer garden.
Thursday evening (8/26) will feature a tribute to Slash at the House of Blues. The lineup for that event, as well as Friday night and Saturday, will be announced soon, according to the festival website.
The Smashing Pumpkins will embark on a summer trek through the U.S. before appearing at the Sunset Strip Festival. The road trip, which supports their latest project, "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope," will kick off July 6 in Cleveland, and stops by clubs and theaters in 13 cities through the end of that month. The full itinerary is at right.
"Teargarden By Kaleidyscope," a collection of 44 songs, is being released as a series of free mp3 downloads, as well as limited edition EPs. Last month, the group unveiled the first EP, "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Vol. 1: Songs For A Sailor." More information about the collection is available at the band's website.
