In Pictures: Fistful of Mercy in San Francisco

The term "supergroup" may be a bit too flashy for the guys of Fistful of Mercy -- though they certainly qualify for the title. Collaborators Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison seem so grounded and steeped in humility that it makes this writer wonder if perhaps a more down-to-earth title needs to be coined just for them.

Fistful of Mercy is currently hitting up some intimate clubs and theaters in support of "As I Call You Down," the group's debut on Harrison's label Hot Records, and fans are witnessing firsthand the trio's genuine, childlike glee as they feel out new creative territory.

Tomorrow and Sunday (11/13-14) Fistful of Mercy will be at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles; on Saturday there will be an early show at 7 p.m. followed by a later show at 9:45. The tour wraps next weekend (11/20) in Philadelphia. Yours truly attended their concert at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco last night (11/11), and here are some of my best shots.
