Mumford & Sons unleash "Gentlemen of the Road Stopover" trek
Following an impending worldwide push behind the recently dropped "Babel," Mumford & Sons will take off on the "Gentlemen of the Road Stopover" trek.
Since last check, the English folk-rock act has unleashed a five-city excursion, similar in style to their 2011 Railroad Revival Tour, that gets underway July 20 in Lewes, United Kingdom, and continues to Simcoe, Ontario (8/24); Troy, OH (8/31); Guthrie, OK (9/7); and St. Augustine, FL (9/14).
Events in each city span two days, with Mumford & Sons performing on the second night of each stop. Other acts on the tour include Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Vaccines, Hey Rosetta!, Dan Mangan, Willy Mason and Bear's Den.
Tickets for the entire outing go on sale Friday (2/8) at the outing's website.
"The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music," the band stated in a press release. "We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in buses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer."
Mumford & Sons released their sophomore studio set, "Babel," in late September via Island Records. The collection, which debuted at the top of the U.K. Album chart and The Billboard 200, has earned the group six Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Americana Album of the Year.
