Alt-rockers They Might Be Giants will embark on a worldwide tour next month in support of their impending 16th studio set, "Nanobots."

The Brooklyn-based quintet will kick off the North American portion of dates with a Feb. 27 show in Portland, ME. So far, the domestic itinerary features 31 club and theater shows through mid-April, after which the band will head to Australia for several appearances on the country's Groovin' The Moo Festival circuit.

A second round of stateside gigs takes off May 30 in Indianapolis, and pushes through a June 16 performance in San Diego.

"Nanobots," TMBG's 16th full-length studio album, will hit retailers March 5 via Idlewild Recordings. Recorded in the private studio of long-time collaborator/producer Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige), the new collection follows 2011's "Join Us," which peaked at No. 8 on Billboard's Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts.

To celebrate the tour announcement, the Grammy-winning outfit released a three-song EP via iTunes of tracks from the impending album -- "Call You Mom," "Lost My Mind" and "Black Ops." The band also created an music-streaming app for the iPhone, which features a different song every day, according to a press release. New songs will premiere every Tuesday, with highlights from the band's 30-year discography slated.
