Thurston Moore fronts Chelsea Light Moving
Chelsea Light Moving, the latest project of Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, will take to the road in March to promote the band's eponymous debut.
The four-piece rock outfit, comprised of Moore, guitarist Keith Wood, bassist Samara Lubelski and drummer John Moloney, will kick off the mostly-U.S. trek with a March 2 show in Hoboken, NJ. The club run reaches 20 major markets, including a March 31 performance in Toronto, before finishing up April 7 in Boston.
Chelsea Light Moving will unveil its self-titled debut album on March 5 via Matador Records. The band recorded the effort at Sone Lab in Easthampton, MA, with engineer Justin Pizzoferrato. Fans can get a sneak peek at its content with four currently streaming singles at the Matador Records site: "Borroughs," "Groovy & Linda," "Frank O'Hara Hit" and "Empires of Time."
Thurston Moore is one of the founding members of alt-rock outfit Sonic Youth. The group announced an indefinite hiatus in 2011 following the breakup of Moore and his wife, Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon.
